Home Urban Beat My favourite places in Marrakech
Back to

By Valeria Concari, Manager of The Central House Marrakech. Marrakech is a city that surprises at every turn. I have been living here for years and I still discover new places that I fall in love with. If you want to discover the most authentic corners of Marrakech, here are my favourite recommendations.

Discover the Medina with a local guide

The best way to get an insight into the real life of the Medina is with an official guide. They can take you to a traditional hammam, to see how tanjia is cooked or to the craftsmen's workshops. I work with English, French, Italian and Spanish speaking guides, perfect for a personalised experience.

Adventures on wheels

If you're looking for something different, you'll love exploring Marrakech by sidecar with Marrakech Insiders or by motorbike with Lovely Mobylette. Even for me, who knows the city, it was an eye-opener. And for more traditional routes but with a nice social commitment, there are the bike tours of Pikala Bikes.

Authentic cultural experiences
For art and culture lovers, Ateliers d'ailleurs offers workshops in ceramics, mosaic, calligraphy or henna. And the Zawyaty-Afrika Maroc association, a few minutes from TCH Marrakech, organises handicraft and cooking workshops with a great social impact.

Where to eat like a local
For authentic Moroccan cuisine, nothing beats Chez Lamine Hadj Mustapha, famous for its mechoui and tanjia. I also recommend Oscar Progress and Restaurant Populaire for delicious kebabs at local prices. And if you are looking for an intimate and special atmosphere, Al Fassia is the place to be.

Where to stay
If you are looking for centrally located accommodation in Marrakech, TCH Marrakech Medina is an excellent choice. Located in the heart of the Medina, this Riad combines traditional Moroccan charm with modern design, a swimming pool and spaces ideal for socialising or relaxing. Its location will allow you to explore the city's main attractions on foot.
